Adjust kerning of all characters in a line at same time?

Postby seans_potato_biz » Mon Jul 06, 2009 8:11 am

I have a line of text but it's just a tiny bit too long. I'd like to adjust the kerning to bring everything together, all in proportion. I don't want to adjust each letter one by one but it doesn't work if I select the whole line of course. How can I apply an equal adjustment to all characters at the same time?

Hi.

To decrease the tracking : Alt + <
To increase the tracking : Alt + >
(You have to be in "text editing" mode, but the text doesn't have to be selected)

Regards.

But I want to apply this to all characters at the same time. I don't want to have to move between each character and press Alt + Left arrow one by one, and then decide it's too much or not enough and do it again etc etc - I want to adjust the separation between every letter at the same time.

I think what he is trying to say... is to press alt and "<" the actual symbol not left, as tracking is different from kerning these also represent the greater and less than signs so makes sense it would increase and decrease the tracking.

Indeed, I tried that and noticed no effect before deciding that rndmerle was referring to the arrow keys. I tried it again just now and it works as I wanted. Thank you both.
