Do you remember grayscape? No? Well.. forget about it. We are here to make something better!
For this challenge you have to make little icons, like smilies, favicon or wherever you want.
If you never made an icon, this is a good way to start. Here is a template for you to use, there's not need to use grids. Every square is a pixel, change the color and be creative. Template: [Download removed]
I'll start to give you an idea of what i'm talking about..
X2
*New: Audacity, LMMS, Fontforge, Android* Inkscape, Krita, Alchemy, Gimp, MyPaint, Blender, Synfig and Scribus.
*Note: Shadows are not part of the icons. They were added at the end.
We could also choose a theme, and make a whole set with the help of everyone. That would be the first inkscapeforum set of icon ever!! Sounds fun to me!
*If you were wondering: i like to call it Pixtor, pixel + vector. Because they are pixel, but they are vector too.

Re: Pixtor Vol.1
OMG, I love it!!
I've had it in the back of my mind to do just what you describe. Oh, I can't wait to try it, but have to leave for an appointment in a few minutes. But tonight or tomorrow, for sure!
EDIT
Ok, I couldn't wait. Yeah, it's sort of like a vector pixel editor, lol! Ok, gotta go now, really

Re: Pixtor Vol.1
Nice smileys, RM.
I have a couple of questions. The 2nd from the right, top row, is that big smile or grin, or a tongue sticking out face? I really like all of them, but due to restrains of the pixel-like constructions, it's probably hard to make them look like you want. I think if you ever used these in a forum, you would need to use the Tool Tips to guide the users in choosing the right one.
I'm not sure what this style represents. But I was thinking that if the 2 little short lines sticking up from top of the head, were instead sticking out the side of the head, close to the bottom of the head, they would look like Frankensteins!
I'm just about ready to try something, so with a little inspiration, I should have something to post soon

Re: Pixtor Vol.1
You just gave me the idea to call them Frankie.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Frankie icons.. ahahah
Yeah, it's kinda limitating doing everything in small sizes, sometimes things will just not fit or look bad.
It's a good way to learn that 'less is more', thought.. if there's something that can be removed, that means it wasn't really important.

Wow, there's thread necromancy, but this is like ...I don't know .... raising yourself from the dead?
Your mind is what you think it is.
