Hi.

I've noticed that when I select multiple objects that belongs in one layer, and that is not the active layer - Inkscape will not change active layer to the one that the selected objects belongs to.
However - if I select one object (or a group of multiple objects) that belong to a different layer than the active one, the layer that the selected object belongs to will be the active layer.

So, Inkscape behave different when multiple objects is selected compared to when a single object is selected.

I just wonder - Is it supposed to be that way, or is this a missing feature?

From Launchpad:

If the user selects multiple objects in a layer that's not the current one, Inkscape will not switch layers to the selection's layer (even though they're all in one layer).

The bug report that Brynn pointed to sounds EXACTLY like the problem you have... what is different? You can create another report if you like, of course.
