[solved] Adobe Hand Tool

Postby javierdl » Wed Aug 29, 2007 1:01 am

You know that little hand one can use to navigate in the documents? I find nothing else is as intuitive nor as practical. Can we do that in Inkscape?

Thanks,

JDL

Nothing else as intuitive or practical? really?
So changing tool every time you want to pan the canvas is more intuitive and practical than holding down the middle button (wheel) and dragging?
You can also shift+rt button+ drag or ctrl +rt+drag.

For reference, in Adobe software you can hold down SPACE to pan the canvas instead of changing to the hand tool.

Thanks for your replies guys :)

Simarilius, I would agree with you if I only wanted to pan up & down (as for using the scrolling wheel), but what if you actually wanted to pan diagonally from the upper right corner of the document to the lower left? Without the Hand Tool you'd have to do 2 movements by scrolling down vertically first, then again horizontally from right to left. Whereas with the HT you'd just drag as needed while holding down space bar (its shortcut in Adobe applics).
But as for the other shortcuts you cited, what is "rt"? - "Right" something?

Thanks again guys,

JDL

You've miss-read Simarilius's suggestion. You need to click and hold the middle mouse button down, not scroll it. Whilst you're holding the button down you can pan the canvas in any direction/

Spacebar panning is now implemented, though it is really just an issue.
