White lines and no glow

Postby bocca » Mon Jun 29, 2015 2:40 am

Hello,

I am completely new to Inkscape (apologies) and have come across an issue that is beyond my trying to figure out or find an answer. I have searched but perhaps I don't have the correct terminology because I haven't found a topic with this issue.

When I download free vectors and the image has a sphere or a glow I see white lines throughout the shape and the glow is black. I can't express how much I would appreciate some guidance or direction.

Much thanks,
Bocca

System: Windows 8.1
Inkscape version: 0.91

Hi.

It looks like gradient meshes were used on the bulbs, which is not part of the svg specs yet, though you can find some support for it (feature in development) if you search the forum.

The highlight appearing black is also a lacking feature compared to illustrator, as that is made with a blending mode out of the current svg specs.

The glow? Not sure about that.

In a nutshell that image was made with illustrator, while inkscape is not giving official support on features out of the svg specs.
(For example, flowed text was planned to be included in the standard, now it only confuses unaware users.)

Thanks Lazur. That helps greatly and explains why some images show as expected and some don't.

Much appreciation,
Bocca
