I am VERY new to Inkscape, but I see potential for a long lost hobby of mine, designing banners. I'm aiming to design banners for my soccer team the Columbus Crew, and instead of by hand I'd like to use Inkscape. I'm looking to design banners not like this, but similiar in nature:
