Dual monitor issues...

Postby jsgthomson » Wed Feb 03, 2016 1:38 am

Hi,

this has probably been asked many times but does anyone know if the dual monitor issue is Inkscape or MAC. I am on Mac with a Dell monitor but Inkscape is not happy and has a number of issues but as soon as I unplug second monitor all is fine.

Are there any updates for this??

Regards,

Neither exactly - a change in more recent versions of OS X (concerning how Spaces (see Mission Control) are managed by default across multiple screens) is not compatible with XQuartz (and requires changes on both sides: by Apple for the system, and by XQuartz developers for the X.org port). AFAIK there are no further updates yet from XQuartz developers about a pending fix - the standard advice is still the same:

The known issue is tracked/monitored for Inkscape here:

Or you temporarily set up the left hand one of your screens as your main screen in System Preferences -> Displays (pull the white strip on it). This has to be done because Inkscape always appears in the upper left corner of the screen. After you did this, make sure Inkscape and Xquarz are both quit, then open Inkscape again and voila it appears as usual.
