how to separate paths after tracing bitmap?

Postby ewiktor » Mon Apr 27, 2009 5:09 am

Hi, I am new to the forum and have a pretty basic question:

I traced an outline of r2d2 and after tracing I got just one big path for all separate elements.
What can I do with the paths so I could color the white spaces between the black lines?
When I break apart the picture appears in negative.
any help please? thank you

You have to reassign the fill and stroke attributes after you break it apart.

No reassign the fill and stroke attributes. Fill and stoke Shift Ctrl F. You should probably watch a few tutorial on using inkscape there is a lot to know about using it.

You could also use the paint bucket tool. Not as elegant but would work.
