Hi,
is there a chance to use Inkscape as a 3D modeler? I'm interested only in moving and snapping simple objects (cubes, spheres) in 3D, not only in 2D. I know there is 3D tool that makes nice blue cubes. But it so difficult to me, its strange:) Maybe adding height and z-position parameters for 2D objects and viewing in 3D mode is possibly? I guess: no:(
But, maybe You know other simple in use soft that can do it? Blender is not simple and easy, and it has so many frills.

Re: 3D
I doubt you'll have luck with spheres in Inkscape but there is a 3D box tool that can help you with cubes. You can control perspectives, and move your objects along planes. Study this http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL ... Boxes.html

Re: 3D
prkos, thanks for quick reply. I read this manual:) it its little odd for me. Maybe i must get accustomed:) I asked because i must plan my new house:) I made 2D plan in Inkscape and it is very legible, one think i need is adding z-height to my objects for better viewing. Maybe you know easier way to add visible measurements then using pen tool (with arrows endings) and text (on path or aligned)?

Re: 3D
Pen tool should be easy to create arrows, once you make one you can duplicate it and resize if needed. You can turn off the button for resizing stroke widths so your arrows will always have the same stroke width and arrow size (the button is on toolbar on the right when Selection tool is active).
I haven't tried it but some people who don't have experience in graphics told me they liked Google Sketchup http://sketchup.google.com/ for making 3D home drawings.

You are GREAT! those effects are directly that i want:) Now i don't have do it manually.

I tied but that is not i want. I cant menage to control and snapping object like in Inkscape. In programs from google i cant influence on thinks that happened. SweetHome3D (form sourceforge.net) is much better in my opinion, but graphics in my comp doesn't fully support openGL:(

Until now i do my plans as you described.
Thanks to all!

Re: 3D
Hi again,
i found some strange behavior of "dimensions" effect. All arrows are longer then should be. Difference between real length of object and arrows length is 1px, always. Snapped object's arrows overlap. I know that is very small result but i'm perfectionist - it irate me.
And, the last, could i change my flat plans into 3D Boxes like prkos linked?

Re: 3D
I used the dimensions effect, then ungrouped the result, and looked at the individual parts.
What I found was that the actual lines are the right length, but that the start and end markers (arrowheads) project beyond the end of the stroke that they're applied to. Which is a bit rubbish.
I don't know what to suggest, though. Ungrouping, removing the end markers using "Measure Path" on the dimension lines will probably look OK.

Re: 3D
Slow Dog your advices are very valuable. Could ask you once more about path length? I don't know why scaling path are NOT accurate. For example: i have simple path (made by pen tool) and i want to scale it: 200px in length. I never get exactly 200px, there is always little more or less. I must scale this same path few times (usually 3) to get exactly what i want. It is very time-consuming. Do you know reason of this disadvantage?
