Layer shows up too dark when separated

Hi I'm new to Inkscape,

I've been trying to get this SVG file separated in order to make the circuitry more transparent, however when I separate the SVG file and place the circuit above it's blue background it becomes darker.

Edit: It's not just this, I separated a different SVG file took the background and deleted it, kept the circuits, moved the ciruits above my current blue square background and it appears darker over the square.

What can I do to keep the same effect as before?

Welcome to the forum!

It sounds like you might have either a filter (intentionally or not) applied to the blue background, or a layer blend mode applied (or maybe did at one point).  Or at least some unexpected transparency somewhere.  (Or possibly a mask, although that would be my last guess.)  If you could please share the SVG file with us, we can find out what's causing it, and tell you how to make the green lines look more transparent.

What's the history of this file?  Was it made in a different program, or in a different format, and converted to SVG?

hi and welcome to the forum.  Looks like we might need to see the svg file as an attachment. 
To do what Brynn suggested, select everything, then go to Filters>remove filters, then test it again.
Also, what happens if you select just the green circuit board and change the fill or stroke color - does anything happen at all, any color change?

@Brynn, The filter definitely isn't intentional as I get most of my SVGS from online. And for the layers I thought I did something but they are all on normal.
It's actually an AI file I downloaded from https://www.freevector.com/.
I separated the circuitry and saved it as an SVG. Both the original and new SVG file are attached below, I will try the remove the filters option.

@Flamingolady depending on the background color of whatever I put the circuitry over, it just becomes darker or gray.

Hhmm, the SVG file you shared doesn't have the dark blue background, or any text either.  The AI file, opened in Inkscape, does have a black background, and some text, but doesn't look anything like your original screenshots.

In the SVG file, the status bar says the circuits have a filter applied.  And it is a Blend filter....specifically Multiply.  So that explains the behavior that you're seeing.  You should be able to do Ctrl + a (select all) and then Filters menu > Remove Filters, and that will stop the behavior that you see.

To be able to change the color or transparency of the circuits....hhmm.  Ok, I see how it's made.

First, Ungroup that first massive group of 609 (or something like that).  Just Ungroup once for now.  Deselect everything.  Then select one of the green ones.  Ungroup that until you see the status bar says "Path....."  (probably it will just take one more click of Ungroup, but I haven't tested every single one)

Now, with that selected, go Edit menu > Select Same > Fill Color, and that will select only and all the green ones.  And now you can change them to whatever you want.
