I needed a group, a text and rectangle under it to make the text more readable in specific situations. I found out that if object has no fill and no contour or is fully transparent then it can't be selected by mouse click. The mouse pointer doesn't detect such objects. It can be selected only by "select all" or rectangle selection. Moreover, it can't be moved with mouse, even if selected. It is huge flaw if You ask me. I can understand such situation if the whole layer is hidden, but not if I set transparent to 100%. Version 0.93.2. Didn't check earlier versions.

This is by design, AFAIU, but I know that many people cannot work well with it.

To mitigate the issue for yourself you can:

- use the 'Objects' dialog for selecting the object (Object > Objects)
- hold down the Alt key when the object is selected, then use the mouse to move it (Alt allows you to click anywhere, and then drag, and still move only the selected object)

You can also select an invisible object using the Tab key.  Although that's not a good solution if there are many objects in the file.  But if you happen to remember which object was created just before or after the invisible one, you can select it.  Then Tab or Shift + Tab can select the invisible one.

Can't imagine how someone could made sth like that by design.
But OK. Yours and Brynn method worked, nice, didn't know that there is such list of all objects. Didn't quite understand alt method, but the rest helped much.

If you press the Alt key, you can drag a selected object with the mouse being anywhere, not on top of the object.  It works whether the object is invisible or not.  It's very handy if you have very small objects, and you want to be lazy and not zoom in!
