Letter Inside Letter with sharp lines

I am trying to do a layered vinyl decal and need to shrink the letter to a smaller size inside the larger letter with the same distance around it. Like .25 inch less than the original.
I tried stroke, but it rounds the edges
Tried to use the diagonal arrow but it does not do an exact shrink.
I tried to change the font size and it does match either.

I think you might be on the right trail, at least for 1 solution, using the stroke.  Actually, using the stroke is how to avoid the rounding that can occur with....perhaps, arguably, the correct solution, which is path offsets (Path menu > Inset, Outset, etc.)  So I'm not sure what you mean about the stroke making it rounded.

Before I make an example/tutorial for you, is the font you used free?  Can you give me a link to download it?  Otherwise I'll use something similar.

Keep an eye to the join style, use miters instead of rounded corners.
