Hi
I am fairly new to Inkscape but mostly manage to get by using the various forums, but this problem has me stuck.

I am trying to create an SVG file instead of a PNG (which I initially did with GIMP) of a perspective shadow that increase in blurriness.

With some effort (mastering the mask tool and using fill blur) I managed to create the required shadow but can't get it deformed for a perspective effect.

The gradual blur consist of three paths, which, when overlaid on one another, forms the perfect shadow for text that goes from sharp at the bottom to very blurry at the top - I learnt that there is no other way to create a gradually increasing blur, but if there is, please let me know.

The problems now comes when I need to add perspective to this for use as a backdrop to the actual text, using the Perspective Extension.

It seems that the Perspective tool only works with 2 items (the target and the source) and I can not find any way to union or group the three items that work with the perspective extension.

It does not work with the group of paths (even one by one gives a blank result) , and when using union or combine, the effect of the gradual increasing blur is lost and replaced with either blank or only one of the three paths before I can even attempt to change the shape.

Any help you can offer? I added the file with an example of what I try to achieve.

SOLVED! (not the real problem but found a workaround to achieve what I wanted) - just in case anyone else can benefit from this.

Instead of using the perspective extension, using a path effect (Perspective/Envelope) worked perfectly on the group of objects!

Ah yes, I was just going to suggest that.  I'm glad you got it working!
