Missing font styles? (variations? thickness?)

It seems I'm dumb or fonts don't like me.

After installing some fonts, specifically Igna Sans, I've noticed on both ends of the size spectrum, very thin or very thick fonts don't work. They show up with a "weight=xxx" name instead of their actual name. Choosing them just seem to default to the last font style chosen. I've double checked to make sure they are installed on the system and they are, they are working in other programs such as Word and Notepad. Why aren't they working in Inkscape?

Currently on 0.92.2 and Windows 10. Fonts are installed in the default Windows font folder.

The "weight=250" option should be "Extra Light"

I'm not particularly strong on fonts.  But if this is just happening with one font, I would tend to think the problem is with how the font is made.

I have not heard this particular complaint before, so I would probably refer you to post a bug report, if you have some reason to think it might be a bug.  Like if you have a few fonts where this is happening, I would think it might be a bug.

It's a frequent issue with some fonts, and has to do with the names of their different weights being cast onto the same name in Inkscape (as far as I understand). It's going to be better with the next major Inkscape version.

You could also be lucky if you can find separate font files for the different weights... (not sure if that works or not).

Danke. Yes, this happens with a majority of fonts that have really thick or thin variants.

To Moini: I believe the files I have are the separated ones. I could mess around with the files and see if I come up with anything. Thanks for the info.

Maybe you can do a bit of web research on this - it's only a dim memory, and I don't have time to do thorough research currently.

I remember something about changing the font name - this has come up in the forums before (possibly also at inkscapeforum.com), and there are people who have found a workaround.
