Holding down the Windows Button while making a selection

Did you know you can press the Windows button while in Inkscape and it will allow you to select an object or all the objects within a given selection range?

It can get annoying when the Windows button is released and you have the tile desktop pop up though, so this can be overcome whilst pressing Windows + LMouse[drag] add in the Shift key into the combo and it seems to stop the tiles popping up.

P.S: I've not fully utilised it yet or worked it out completely but thought you'd like to know.

Can you make a short video? This doesn't work for me, but I'd be interested to see what it looks like.

The Windows button doesn't do anything to Inkscape, for me.  (Just causes the Start menu to pop up on top of Inkscape, which is expected.)

I can't tell for sure, because the status bar is behind the video timer bar.  But it looks like they are holding the Alt key, to me.  Yes, the Alt key does provide the behavior shown in the video.  Apparently that's a lasso select, which I'm pretty sure was purposely programmed, and not any kind of easter egg.

But I don't think the lasso select is well known.  If someone had asked about it, I would have had to look it up.

On my keyboard, the left Alt key and Windows key are right beside each other.  Maybe on some keyboards the 2 keys are combined into 1, for some reason??

Interesting though.  When I press the Windows key with Inkscape open, the status bar shows the Alt key info.  That's a bit odd!  Maybe there's some mistaken crossover for some computers?

Yep, that's Lasso selection with Alt key. Not sure how come that the Windows key is recognized as Alt. See also:

There has been some work done on keyboard shortcuts lately, so this might change. If someone would like to try it out, just install the lated development version.

Speaking of "easter eggs", did you try adding new numbered layers?
Maybe it's more of a bug than a feature but when you start naming your layers with numbers, like 1, 2, 3..
if you wanted to repeat some of them (for example if you name two layer's sublayers the same 1, 2, 3),
the typed in name automatically jumps to 4, 5, 6.

Shame there's not a like button on that suggestion Lazur as that is worthy of a thumbs up. Will try that next time.

Yes, I did notice that Layers automatically suggests the next number.  It even works if you do something like 1.1 or 1-1.  The next layer you add will suggest 1.2 or 1-2.  I often use numbers.  Didn't try letters, like Layer A, B, etc.

I suspect that is a bug with the layer names.
When writing in any name that already exists the one appearing in the layer list gets an additional number.
My guess is that when creating the new layer, the id of the layer is essentially the same as the typed in name, but the svg document cannot handle objects with the same id-s. Therefore as a brute-force the numeral is added -however to the layer name as well, not just to the id. Probably not a complicated one to fix, an/or maybe it is an intended behave.
