Hi Friends,
I'm noticing some new behavior in 0.92.2.  Actually I haven't had a chance to use Inkscape just for fun lately, or else I would have noticed this a long time ago.  Anyway, it's starting to annoy me.  I suspect it's intentional by the developers.  But I hope it's a bug.

What I see is that if that tiny lock icon (between W and H, on the Selection tool control bar) is enabled, then whenever I'm scaling something using the arrow handles, on the canvas, it scales in proportion.  In the past, that lock icon only affected scaling when using the W and H fields to perform the scale.  I assume that's why it's placed between W and H.  While on the canvas, using the arrow handles, I would hold Ctrl to keep proportions.

I think this is not correct behavior.  I think that lock icon should only affect the W and H fields, and not affect scaling using arrow handles on canvas.  What do you all think?  Or maybe someone knows for sure what the deal is.

If it's new intended behavior, then the lock icon needs to be moved from inbetween W and H.  And then it needs to be placed.....I would say with those 4 tiny icons on the right end of the control bar.

Maybe I'll ask on the mailing list about it.  But I'm curious if anyone else here has noticed this and what you  think.

Thanks for comments   :)

It hasn't changed at all. There's a difference between pulling on the corner handles (keeps proportion) and the edge handles (doesn't keep proportion), when the lock is activated.

Oh no.  This is a new thing!  This is something I use all the time, and there has definitely been a change.

None of the Selection tool scaling handles would hold the proportions unless Ctrl is used, and they never responded to the lock icon, before this.  I'm not having any confusion about this.

I have 0.91 installed and I had tried it out, directly before I answered your post. In my 0.91, it works exactly as it does in my 0.92, 0.92.2 and 0.92.x. No change.

Do you have an old version installed for testing yourself?
