I installed a lotof new fonts and none show up in inkscape. I tried install and reinstall program , I checked that the fontsa re in correct windows font folder, but nothing helps ... Also I read FAQ that says to manually edit the search path in inkscape tolook for fonts, but this option is not present in my preferences/tools/text window ...

Welcome to the forum!

If Inkscape was open when you installed the fonts, you'll need to restart Inkscape.

Do you use a font manager?  Or are you using native Windows font tools (which basically is C:\Windows\Fonts)?

Which FAQ are you referring to?  It doesn't sound familiar.

Ihave started, reinstalled, and shut down inkscape when reloading fonts were not there...
I managed to get the fonts installed by right clicking on each one of them and install for all users... I was just double clicking on them to install ... is there a way to install for all users to simply double clicking rather than having to extract , select right click etc?

Not that I know of.  It's pretty normal that you're supposed to extract the zip files.  Then double-click on the TTF or OTF or whatever kind of font file.  Then in the box that comes up, showing the font in different sizes, click the Install button.

There may be some advanced way to do it faster, but I don't know what that would be.

Uummm.....actually instead of extracting the ZIP file, you could select Open.  That would show you the TTF or OTF or whatever kind of font files.  Then double-click on each one and then click the Install button.  After that, you could just close the open ZIP file without ever having extracted the files.  I'm not positive, but I think that should work.

I am having this exact same problem.
The fonts are installed. I can use them in every piece of software except inkscape.
I have uninstalled I.S.
I have installed different versions of I.S.
I have copied inkscape from my old computer (where they worked fine) and installed that version on the new PC.
I have restarted I.S.
I have restarted the computer.

Please help
I am running Inkscape version 0.92.3
on Windows 10 Pro version 1809

Please see screen shots of what I read to do. "This is what I dont have" and "this is what I see" attached here.

Welcome to the forum!

I'm not sure if I understand the problem.  I understand what you mean about fonts you've installed that aren't available in Inkscape.  But your screenshots seem to be showing the Text tool preferences for 2 different Inkscape versions (apparently).  And I don't understand your reason for showing those.

Do you have 2 versions of Inkscape installed?

I also have 0.92.3 installed, but my Inkscape Preferences looks like your "this is what I see" screenshot.  Where does the "this is what I don't have" screenshot come from?

The "this is what I dont have" is a screen shot of what was suggested to do from some wikihow page I cant find on my phone. No I only have 0.92.3 installed. However if you know what version that is in the screenshot, let me know and I'll just use that one, if it gives me the ability to select folders where font is located.

My issue is that inkscape on my old computer will show all my fonts, and the new computer with the exact same software will not. However they are installed in windows correctly. They all work in all the other software except for inkscape.

I don't know what version those preference settings are from.  The current stable version of Inkscape is 0.92.4, and I haven't installed it yet.  So I just don't know.

I think we need to report this behavior as a bug, but only if you see the same behavior in 0.92.4.  Are you able or willing to upgrade and test?

I suppose I should get around to upgrading.  Maybe I can do that later today.  But if not today, then asap.

I already tried that version. Same problem. I did however find someone with a fix. This should be pinned everywhere. Searched for 4 days and this is the only solution that worked for me, and as more people update windows they will as well have the same problem.

I ran the windows updates on my old computer and that is definitely the issue. After updating my old computer that ran the fonts just fine. Inkscape no longer showed them.
I had to add a new user to get the option to "install for all users".

Here is a link to the screenshot solution. http://www.inkscapeforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=34120

Ok, I will make the bug report myself.  I'm tired of seeing this complaint, and up until now, no one has confirmed it's happening in 0.92.4.

I read a report somewhere that a recent Windows Update on Windows 10 puts the newly installed fonts in a different folder.  The problem is probably that Inkscape doesn't look in  that new folder.  But of course I'd have to leave it for developers to figure that out for sure.'

Oh yeah, I just read your attachment - same thing!

I think I can solve the riddle about the additional fonts screenshot. It's from the draft release notes for 1.0:
