Which version of Inkscape are you using?
Hhmm....when you said "All I get when I drag, insert any symbo, tis a bounding ." it sounds like you might be using the Text tool. If that's the case, I guess you must be pasting the symbol into he text box? There is a bug with Inkscape on Macs, where pasting anything causes it to become rasterized. If the symbols you're talking about are something like ? or ? or ? you might have to use the Unicode, rather than pasting the symbol. Info on "Unicode Mode" in the manual:

My best guess is this has something to do with the Mac paste bug. However, if all you see is a bounding box, that usually leads us to think there's a transparency or opacity issue somewhere. Here's a little tutorial/article I wrote, to make it easier to answer these questions.

Depending on which version of Inkscape you're using, and what you mean by "symbols" it could be some other issue. Inkscape has a Symbols dialog, which is new with 0.91, and uses custom symbol sets or libraries. So if that's the kind of symbols you're using, there may be yet some other cause.
