I've been using Inkscape and SheetCam together for six months, now, successfully. Recently, I've created a couple of drawings that, when I import them into SheetCam, aren't the last saved version. They show the drawing messed up - before I fixed the problem and saved the file. This has happened twice now, and it's very frustrating! I've even renamed the file and still, it shows me the messed up file, not the latest one!
TIA for any help!

Welcome to the forum!

Can you share the file of one of these that aren't as you saved them?

My first thought is that you might be drawing with either the Pen or Pencil tool which has a shape applied to it (from the control bar).  Those automatically apply LPEs (Live Path Effects).  I would not expect an LPE to change a file upon re-opening in Inkscape.  But if the change is happening when it's imported into SheetCAM, it might not know what to do with the LPE.

But we can say more certainly if we can examine a file.

Brynn - Thanks for responding to my query. I'm sorry I didn't see that you wrote a response until just now. I just asked that I be notified when people respond.
Attached are three files - a screen shot of my drawing, as it looks in Inkscape, a screen shot of how it imports into Sheetcam (when it actually loads, which is not always!) and the svg file, itself. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

Hhm, curious....

I don't think the problem is Inkscape not saving the file correctly.  It's more likely that for some reason, Sheetcam is reading it differently.

Questions:

Are you sure the SVG file you attached is the one giving the wrong display in Sheetcam?  Because I notice in the SVG file, everything is enclosed in a rounded rectangle.  But the Sheetcam display shows more of a fancy enclosure for all the text.

Has Sheetcam been used to do anything to the file, such as swap out the fancy border?  Anything like that?

Another thing I notice is that the fancy enclosure, and the 2 groups which seem to have moved, are all made of pale pinkish lines - while everything else has bolder, brighter, yellow lines.  That could be a clue, I think, although I don't know Sheetcam well enough to guess what it means.

I notice you have everything grouped.  There are nested groups, so that in most cases each letter is a separate path, and all the letters of a word or name or date are in a group.  And then all the groups are grouped, together with the rectangle.  Can Sheetcam handle that?  I'm a little surprised if it can look inside the groups.  That doesn't meant it's not possible, just would be surprising to me.

PS - Just under the last message in a topic thread, is a Notify button.  So as long as you used a working email address to register, you'll be notified about any replies to that topic.  Also, in the Profile tab, you can configure a few different notifcation options.

Seems to me sheetcam cannot deal with transforms. Those are added when e.g. a group of objects is moved or rotated.
Suggested solution: Ungroup everything, this will remove the rotation transforms. Then you can re-group or not.

I was thinking that at first too, Moini.  But other are other groups there with transform attributes, which appear correctly.  I was going to suggest ungrouping, just so that the raw paths are sent to the cutter.  But it would also remove the transform attributes.

There's no drawback when the transforms are removed, it's a safe operation, and I'd suggest to try it nonetheless (i.e. ungroup everything).
But you're right, Brynn, - I see now that the date group also has a rotation transformation attribute, and it's not affected.
