Hi fellow Inkscapers!

I made a great figure a while back and wanted to make some edits -change line thickness and size of the arrow head. I know that you do this via "Fill and Stoke"; however, when I press "ctrl+shift+F" or select "Fill and Stoke" under the Object bar, this menu does not appear. Other menus appear when I have used other shortcuts (i.e.,  ctrl+shift+A). I've uninstalled and reinstalled Inkscape and am still having this issue and I can't seem to find a solution on the web. Any suggestions?

Thank you

Welcome to the forum!

Could it be "minimized" within the docking area?  Please refer to my screenshot, do.png, and ignore the blue numbers 1 and 2.  But notice to the right of the Fill and Stroke dialog, where "Trace Bitmap" is turned sideways.  The Trace Bitmap dialog is "minimized" there.  If you click on that text, it would open Trace Bitmap.

Or referring to docks1.png, inside the red rectangle.  Could Fill and Stroke be....I guess that's sort of a different way of "minimizing" the dialogs.  Could it be there?

If neither of those are the answer, would you be using a dual or multiple monitor setup, by chance?

Thank you so much for responding! It was option 1 -I didn't realize that menus minimized sideways; I thought they only minimized below as in option 2.

Thank you!

Always like to hear the good news!

Just for your info, if you notice a tiny black triangle next to a tiny x, in the top-right corner area of the dialog, those are the buttons that control the dialog while it's in the docking area.  The tiny triangle is the button which "minimizes" to the right.  The tiny x closes the dialog.  (I think the triangle is supposed to be something like an arrow, except that it points the wrong way.  One of these days I'll remember to make a bug report, to ask for it to be turned around  :@@: )

To get the dialogs "minimized" below, that's controlled in a different way, which is even harder to describe than it is to actually control.  I actually don't understand it very well, but I think I made a video for someone a year or 2 ago.   I could try and search it out, if you like (or maybe just make a new one) if you're interested.

Also, I've recently found out it's possible to have just the icon for the dialog over on the right, rather than the sideways text.  If you want to change that, it's in Inkscape Preferences > Interface > Dockbar style.
