Hello.
This is 1 piece of my Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Project (VAWT). I finally have it in inkscape, now to get it the rest of the way to my CNC.

My issues so far are:
1. When converting to Gcode or moving to Lazycam (DEMO). The circles turn to splines and are not imported.
2. I have been able to get the circle of Squares imported to Lazycam, but size is 1.4 in. I'm sure is a simple conversion I have no clue about yet.
3. I am a beginner and learning.

I found this and have started attempting to use the process.
"Also, you may want to do a couple of node edits, to connect the whole outline into a single path (First ungroup everything, then highlight overlapping nodes, then "Join selected nodes" button on Node tool control bar) (or whatever the key shortcut is).  I'm guessing it will cut better if it has 1 single path to cut on.  I could give you more detailed steps, if you need them.  But it sounds like you're pretty much getting it already  :)"

In all, I have 6 disks to make for 0ne turbine. 2 sets of 2 and the stater and rotor. The rest are blades.
More coming soon.

Hhmmm....  From your initial comments in your intro topic, it sounded like you need more help with Inkscape, and the basic maths.  But now it sounds like you might need more help with the gcode, Lazycam, and external apps.  So depending on how this topic develops, I might end up moving it into Using Inkscape with Other Apps board.  (No worries btw, but just so you know.)

For the heart rotor screenshot, I see there are only 4 hearts.  In the photo in your intro topic, there are 5.  I guess you just changed that part of the design?  Or is there some technical reason for the change?

That bit of text that you quoted sounds like something I wrote, although I'm not sure for who or which topic.  Are you using that process for the heart rotor screenshot, or something else?

What's the drawing on the right side of that image?  What is that which is indicated by "Start" and "End"?  Some kind of wires?  I was thinking the magnets' purpose was to keep it turning (by having another magnet on the end of an arm, that's turned the right way to repel the magnets in the circle).  But that image that looks like wires starts to remind me of the classic wire coiled around a nail electromagnet experiment from high school (although with a different kind of layout).

I'm not familiar with gcode or Lazycam, but some of our members are.  But for #1, what circles are you talking about?  For #2, I'm not clear what is 1.4"?

Well, maybe will all be clear, when you add the promised more to come  :D

Brynn , lets do this. "I might end up moving it into Using Inkscape with Other Apps board."

I am going to stick with these 4 patters until I have understanding . Then, I will move onto the next step.
Just getting ahead of myself and abilities and need to slow and learn first.  :?boy: :hh:

I have set the 4 components into separate folders and will work on one at a time and combine them as I figure to how to do this.
OR
Combine the pieces in 4 separate operations on 1 piece of material.

Ok, topic is moved  :)

Is your current question how to combine those 4 pieces?  Or you still have more info to provide first?

Thanks Brynn.
Yes, that is the final question.
I am way ahead of myself and doing a lot of back peddling. I Down loaded more tutorial and will practice on them piece by piece.
The 9 in disc, I will have a friend cut for me on there plasma CNC, so I will not worry about this piece. I will, for the time being, focus on the 3 remaining cut-outs starting with the hearts. I saw a thread about hearts and will look into that closer. .

For now my focus will be converting my .SVG file to Gcode or a usable .dxf file for lazycam/mach3.

A step by step process, point to point guide is my goal. when I finish with the tutorials, I should have some of this worked out better.
