Greetings, Inkscape users. I run a makerspace and I make extensive use of Inkscape for vector graphics which are then passed on to our laser cutter. Inkscape has proven to be an easy to use, intuitive, full featured, invaluable tool. And it's open source!
I recently stumbled upon the Living Hinge extension
https://inkscape.org/~drphonon/★living-hinge-creator which would be great for us to use with our laser cutter. Sadly, I cannot get it to work. I downloaded the two files necessary and followed the instructions found at this link. I moved the .inx file to both C:\Program Files\Inkscape\share\extensions and C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\inkscape\extensions I also moved the .py file to ...\src within both of the extension folders I just listed. To be safe I also placed a copy of the .py file inside the root extension folder (in addition to \extensions\src). When I launch Inkscape I see the Living Hinge extension listed under the "Render" category within the "Extensions" menu. But clicking on it does nothing. I have tried creating a rectangle, selecting the rectangle, and then attempting to run the extension. But it makes no difference. Clicking on the Living Hinge extension within Inkscape never does anything.
Does anyone have any idea as to what is going on here or how to resolve my issue? Thank you.
