Centerline Trace no longer works

I have been using the Centerline Trace extension with great results. However, I have just upgraded from Ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04. On doing so, Inkscape (0.92.3) disappeared from my machine and I re-installed. Inkscape once again works as expected. I have re-installed the latest versions of both centerline trace and its dependency autotrace, but on trying to apply a trace on an image in inkscape, i get the following message...

"You need to install autotrace for this extension to work. Try https://github.com/jnweiger/autotrace/releases or google for autotrace version 0.40.0 or later. (Windows: see https://sourceforge.net/projects/autotrace/ )"

I have tried reinstalling both Centerline Trace and AutoRoute many times. I have also installed older version (Centerline 0.71 and Autotrace 0.31) with no luck. I have installed on a 17.10 Ubuntu machine, ending up with the same error.
The Centerline Trace extension is critical to a piece of work I am doing with a pending deadline... 
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. Are you using Inkscape as a snap, or from the ppa or from the official Ubuntu deb packages?

2. If you're using the snap, try what happens if you do a proper installation. You may need to remove the snap first, so it won't interfere.

3. If you're not using the snap, please create an issue on the github site for the extension.

I used the official PPA on both machines, so I have posted an issue on the extension github page, as suggested

I see it's even solved already (and there's a new version of centerline trace available, with new options)
