I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 5c3e80d on OS X El Capitan and have trouble with line height : it's always set to 1000%, with is unusable and I cannot change it in the Text dialog panel anymore (it works if I change the line-height value in the style attribute, but that's definitely not an option...).

I previously had the option in 0.91 r13725.

I join a screen copy of the Text Dialog I get now which specifically misses this option.

Any idea ?

Thanks.

This is a problem when you update from 0.91 to 0.92... :/

If you don't care too much about your preferences, I remember that the easiest way to fix it would be to just rename the preferences file that you have, and see if that solves the problem.

Find the location of the file via Edit > Preferences > System : User preferences.

You need to close all Inkscape windows, then rename the file, then restart Inkscape for this to take effect.

But what about if you've been using Inkscape for a while, and you have tons of personal preferences, that you don't want to have to re-set.  Isn't there some way to just revert the line height preference by itself?

fdesar, you mention using the Text and Font dialog.  But what about on the control bar, on the main interface?  Can you still change it there?

There is, but I don't remember how. Would have to try it out again, took long, no time currently. Something to do with pressing all the available line-height buttons in a specific order.

Oh, I see.  I would test it myself, except I don't experience the problem.  I was just curious if there was a less drastic solution.  Hhmm....actually I did have this problem once, but I haven't seen it lately.

So I guess fdesar or other users could try typing the text in a different file, and see if it will paste into the current file without problems?

Didn't I hear that at least part of this problem is going to be fixed in the next major version release?  Or do I have it confused with something else?  It's so hard to keep track of these things.

As far as I know it's going to be fixed when everyone's preferences file will have updated because they set it correctly once, or used the newer preferences file.

Sorry for the late reply.

The line height option is still available in the main control bar, I just never noticed it existed, being used to change the value through the Text dialog panel!

But I definitely solved my issue by more or less following Moini suggestion, just patching my preference file and replacing the bogus 1000% to a more decent value :-)

But I still don't understand why this option disappeared from the Text dialog panel...

Many thanks for your hints, it helped me a lot !

I've never used the Text and Font dialog much.  And not at all since developers fleshed out the control bar for the Text tool (a couple/few versions ago).  Everything I need now is on the control bar.

I do see a grayed out dropdown menu, with 0% showing.  But so far, I haven't figured out how to activate it, or exactly what it does.  So unless that's the line height setting (non-functioning), I don't have one.
