Failed to load the requested file Issue

Hey everyone,

My first post on the forum and one of pure panic sadly

So the issue itself, I've tried to start up my file like every other day and ran into the error of "Failed to load the requested file C:\Users\Tom\Desktop\orbies.svg", never had this issue before, I've seen a few threads with similar issues but some people don't seem to have figure out what went wrong, hoping there may be fresh eyes!

What I've tried so far, I tried installing the latest Inkscape in the hopes of a different outcome, I got the same, tried opening the same file on another computer, opened the file but it had huge chumps of the images missing. Someone did mention renaming the file, which I thought was worth a shot but sadly nothing worked there.

I'm now using the latest Inkscape, 64-bit and open to any help to save a lot of work, if I've missed anything out just ask away, cheers!

Specifically how are you trying to  open it?  Like for example, do you find it in the file manager and double-click on it (or right-click > Open)?  Or do you open Inskcape first, and then use the Open dialog, or maybe Open Recent? 

I see from the file path that you have it stored on the desktop.  That's probably not the best place to keep it, for the long term.  The Pictures library is made for storing images.  Although, I don't think that could be causing this problem.  But maybe if you've recently moved it to the desktop.

Sometimes I've seen that when I've moved a file and Inkscape couldn't find it.  But if you've renamed it, at least you know where it is, even if Inkscape didn't.  But there are a few, maybe several reasons for this error message.

If you've tried a few different ways to open it, but still no luck, you're welcome to share the file with us.  Some of us can identify if the file is corrupt, and how bad, and have an idea whether it's fixable.
