I need help to create an object with diagonal stripes

Hello ! 

I need your help.
I'm building a home cockpit and i intend to use Inkscape to draw my panels.

Yesterday, making a little test, I've done this :


But unfortunately today I'm not able to do the same effect with an object with the good size and shape.

Could anyone help me to describe the different steps (I starded using Inkscape yesterday, so don't hesitate to be complete  ).
