Hi there,

I've been happily using Inkscape for a number of years. However, recently I updated Lubuntu to 18.04. Since then, within a few minutes of using Inkscape, it would freeze, then display an error. Even on new images - e.g. draw an ellipse, convert object to path, then after a few minutes of adjusting the paths, Inkscape would crash.

Worried the "in place" upgrade of Lubuntu may have caused the issue, I wiped my system and installed Lubuntu 18.04 fresh and Inkscape (0.92.3 (2405546, 2018-03-11) from the repository.  Unfortunately, I'm getting the same issue.

Running Inkscape from the command line, I see the following:

(inkscape:2605): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: 17:55:31.552: g_dbus_proxy_new: assertion 'G_IS_DBUS_CONNECTION (connection)' failed

This most often happens when adjusting paths - and most of the time within a few minutes of work.

Has anyone seen this issue recently and is there a fix - as sadly Inkscape is unusable on my system at the moment. I'm guessing there's a bug in this version of Inkscape?

Many thanks,
Marc

I agree on the bug report!

If you don't want to get involved in this way, we can make the report for you.  But we would probably need to contact you with follow up questions and for performing troubleshooting, etc.  So it's probably better if you can make the report yourself.  Then you can communicate directly with developers, as they try to find the problem.  They usually jump on this kind of crashing problem right away.

Thanks for your time and energy in reporting this!

I've made a report now, Marc. Can you register on launchpad and follow along, maybe answer developers' questions, too?
