I have created an SVG figure with Inkscape 0.91 on Linux that contains dashed lines. When I save the figure in the WMF format and import the figure in MacOS Word 15.24 (2016),  all dashed lines are displayed as solid lines.

When I save the SVG image as WMF a dialog is shown with various options. I made sure that the option to convert dashed lines to solid lines is unchecked.

How can I have dashed lines displayed as dashed in Word (WMF) ?

Answering to my own question.

After further testings, I found out that if I select the checkbox specifying to convert dashed lines into solid lines, all dashed lines remain displayed as dashed lines in Word (macOs).

So there is a bug in the options when saving to WMF. The default should be to preserve dashed lines. The value of this option flag is interpreted in inverse sense.

The option is 'convert dashed / dotted lines to single lines' (and what it means is it converts them to paths, I assume, using the 'stroke-to-path' feature). I agree the text could be clearer. You could make this a bug report in the bugs section for Inkscape at lauchpad, and suggest a better phrasing, https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape.
