Hi Friends,
For those of you who might not already know, at the Inkscape Board meeting last Friday, it was decided to form the Inkscape Forum Exploratory Committee. I was asked to chair it, and I accepted.
So for the first time ever, there will be an "official" Inkscape forum. Among the benefits of an official forum are:
-- there will always be someone to manage and maintain the forum (it won't disappear someday)
-- the responsibilities will be shared by several people (helps to avoid burnout)
-- the features will be kept up to date
-- the best benefit, as far as I'm concerned, is that we get to build it the way we want, from the ground up (within the limitations imposed by what the project can afford, which as an open source project, is probably little to nothing - but never fear, there are some great free software....just think of Inkscape, right?)
There are other benefits too, but they don't all come to mind at the moment. Anyone please feel free to post other benefits.
Rather than clutter this message, here's a link to the message on the mailing list, which describes some of the responsibilities of the committee and examples of some of the questions it needs to answer:
https://sourceforge.net/p/inkscape/mailman/message/35137071/This topic will be for news and progress reports, so everyone knows what's happening as things develop.
If you would like to share what features you'd like to see, for the most perfect Inkscape forum you could imagine, please go to this topic. (still writing it, I'll give the link as soon as I post it)
All best
