How to distort text like on a pencil shaped object

I need to laser a file on a pencil.

The pencil ist round and the inkscape file it flat.

If I laser the file the pencil the uper and lower side will reach unlimited lengt the the more space is used.

Is there any filter that allows to bend a object like it would be on a cylinder?

Doing this with blender has way to many steps.

I'm not sure I understand what you want to accomplish, but if it's just to adjust the object so it looks like it's bent, try looking into Envelope extension, or Pattern along Path. Mesh transforms will be available in later versions, but they may be overkill for your case. Try reading here about an example of putting text on a path:

I think the Eggbot extensions might contain something that deforms objects to fit on a tube... See also:
