Hello all!

my question is probably mostly for the developers unless anyone of you has an idea:
Why is there no dmg file for the newest version of Inkscape anymore?

I am working for an IT company and we have a mechanism that automatically downloads files such as .dmg, converts them to a pkg and uploads them to a distributionpoint.
Will the dmg file be available later or do they just not exist anymore for Inkscape?

Welcome to the forum!

As far as I understand, the reason we don't have DMG for the current version is because we don't have anyone to build it.  If you know of anyone, or want to help, I'm sure developers would welcome your input.  We can put you in touch, just let us know.

The last version for which there is a DMG, I think is 0.91 (https://inkscape.org/release/0.91/mac-os-x/)

Unfortunately I have no experience in building dmg files for installation and currently don't know anyone who could do that
But if I find anyone, I will contact you again!

Moini, I've just had a PM from apparently a beginner Mac user (doesn't understand terms like "ports" and "terminal"), who was trying to install Inkscape using MacPorts.  I notice that on the current download page for Macs, it prompts all users to try MacPorts.  I'm unable to edit those pages, so could you add a note that perhaps MacPorts is for more experienced Mac users, and with a link to the 0.92.2 DMG download page?

Thanks, Moini.  But I meant on this page:  https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-0.92.4/mac-os-x/macports/dl/  I think people click on that link, and never read further down on the main download page.
