I'm trying to make a windmill shape out of 3 congruent scalene triangles. I need to snap 2 points of each triangle to the other 2. In such a way that they form a larger triangle with their medium sides. Basically, I need to snap the red points to the blue points simultaneously (in the attached picture), and then align the larger figure so that it's pointing in the right direction. How can I do this?

You don't need to do that simultaneously, it's also possible to do it successively.
It is possible to rotate an object numerically using Object -> Transform.

With this, you can first:

- duplicate one of your objects twice, so you have three identical pieces, with the same rotation
- rotate the two copies by the necessary angles
- then move them until the corners snap to each other, with the correct snap option enabled (the one for cusp corners is the correct one, I think).

Welcome to the forum!

I tried following your instructions, because I thought I would make you a video.  But when I finished, it doesn't look like a windmill.  Here's what it looks like (attached).

The corners aren't matching precisely, but just to show that it's not looking like a windmill.  There must be some other steps and requirements, to create the windmill effect?

Oh, I just realized I put the wrong corners together.  Trying again....

Ok, I got it this time!  That's a neat trick -- I love geometry, haha.

Take note of the snap control bar on the right side of the window.  When you have it set up like that, the corners will snap, just like they do in the video.

I did it almost the same as Moini's steps.
