Thank u.

If you want to continue it, you need to open it up.
Try splitting the node for the start.

Welcome to Inkscape Community!

Unfortunately, Inkscape doesn't allow more than 2 path segments to be associated with each node.  However, there is a way to sort of make it work like there are more than 2.

First, you need to start the new path precisely on top of the existing node.  Usually Snapping is the fastest way to do that (manual info on Snapping: http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Snapping.html).  But you could also use the x,y coordinates on the Node tool control bar (copy them from the other node and paste them in for the new node, after you finish drawing the path).

Now that they are on top of each other, you need to select them both at the same time, whenever you're ready to move them.  You can do that by dragging a tiny selection box around them, with the Node tool.  That way, they are all moving together, as if there was only one node.

Let us know if that helps  :)

Thank u, so much for the quick response. I am using the above explained technique and achieving the desired result. But curious to know whether it is possible or not with my beloved Inkscape. I am attaching an image of the exact thing I want to know.

No, it's not possible.  A node may only have either 1 or 2 path segments connected to it.  I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure it's because there's no SVG standard for it.

It seems like I've heard of Illustrator having some kind of function where nodes can be bound together, so you don't have to remember to select them together, after you apply it.  It would be a nice feature for Inkscape.  And if one were ambitious enough, one could make a formal feature request.

Oh wait!  Seems it's been a much-requested feature over the years:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/171491
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/511455  (this one contains links to a few other related requests)

You're welcome to add your support to those (by clicking "Does this bug affect you?" text link).  Then you will be notified whenever there's a new comment or some change with the report.
