Hello, having started going through tutorials a few days ago, all of a sudden the outline shape function is not working properly.

After holding shift and selecting a colour for the outline from the bottom palette, the select box changes size to indicate that an outline has been created but there is no visible outline, regardless of the colour I select or the thickness I make the "invisible" outline.

Can any of you help?

Thanks!

Hi.

Probably you set the stroke colour to "invisible" by lowering its alpha value to 0 in the fill and stroke panel (Shift+Ctrl+F) and as the "last used style" is remembered, all the colour you added have 0 alpha. If you set the alpha back to 255 it should work.

I agree, it's probably just transparent, through one means or another.  This tutorial explains all the several different ways it can happen, where you can't see what you draw.
