I have some objects with my user-defined XML metadata (the ones that I can add if I click on a object and press CTRL+SHIFT+x)

If I run the Path->Simplify tool on that object I lose the metadata I added to the object.

Is there a way to simplify a object and keep my defined XML data?

I have Inkscape 0.92 and run on Windows 10.

Thanks.

There are no other parameters than the amount of simplification for simplify.

You could use the simplify path effect, and see if it does the same... (I suspect it's going to be worse, esp. when you convert to path afterwards, but who knows).

Also, you should report this (if not reported yet), I don't think it's intentional:

Welcome to the forum!

If you're not familiar with reporting bugs, you can start on this page, to learn more about it:  https://inkscape.org/en/contribute/report-bugs/

If you'd rather not become involved with bug reporting at this time, I'd be glad to make the report for you.

Except I would need you to explain the problem with a little bit more details first.  (I didn't realize it's possible to apply metadata to individual objects.  I thought you could only apply metadata to files.)
