I would like to recreate this:

I would like to wrap the pattern object around the circle object. How to do that?

The circle object being a sphere is out of inkscape's capabilities as per se -live editing, that is.

Gimp has built in 3D wrap around features but that's not live either and it's input and output are raster.

So, blender can be a solution for extending the toolset.

There are built-in spheres in blender, they can be unwrapped and add a raster image showing that pattern as a texture, then render it from any angle/lighting set and trace that with inkscape. -Then why to use inkscape, when you already have a decent raster rendering right?

Other option is that you actually model the pattern in blender in 3D around the sphere.
Then, you can render that into an svg with blender. The process relies on a raytracing first step and a vectorising done after, so the output may not be so clean by 2D vectorgraphic standards.
If you have the pattern modelled in 3D you can also export it to an .obj file, and render that with inkscape's 3D polyhedron extension.
That uses parallel projection to project the 3D coordinates onto the 2D plane, and each 3D face is separated to a 2D path.
The view angle/rotation of the object can be adjusted, however not in a live way nor there is a visual cue of the rotation as in the video.

All in all if you are aiming for that look it is possible to draw however it's not that easy.

13 minutes of "speed drawing"? Hah!

Well, I was curious how AI was doing that.  Because I thought it was strictly a 2D program.  But watching the video, it looks like AI has some true 3D support, which as Lazur explained, Inkscape doesn't have.

However, that....I don't know what it's called, but it's sort of a thumbnail or title page or something, for the video.  That image, the orange and blue balls, doesn't look like 3D modeling.  They look like simulated 3D, which Inkscape can accomplish -- although it would take really advanced skills.

It would not be as simple as drawing your pattern and wrapping it around.  I'd have to spend some time experimenting.  But at the moment, I'm thinking possibly some interpolation and either pap or scatter extension.  If I have some time later, I'll make some preliminary trials.
