13 minutes of "speed drawing"? Hah!
Well, I was curious how AI was doing that. Because I thought it was strictly a 2D program. But watching the video, it looks like AI has some true 3D support, which as Lazur explained, Inkscape doesn't have.
However, that....I don't know what it's called, but it's sort of a thumbnail or title page or something, for the video. That image, the orange and blue balls, doesn't look like 3D modeling. They look like simulated 3D, which Inkscape can accomplish -- although it would take really advanced skills.
It would not be as simple as drawing your pattern and wrapping it around. I'd have to spend some time experimenting. But at the moment, I'm thinking possibly some interpolation and either pap or scatter extension. If I have some time later, I'll make some preliminary trials.
