Creating Stamps

Hey,

Let's say I make a couple of shapes, an apple, a raindrop and a dolphin.

In a few months time if I wanted to import a shape I made could I turn it into a stamp? And then I could just select it as a shape and LMB to "stamp" in into a new workspace?

You could use symbols for that, those are available either per document or, if you save them to a file into the correct directory, you have them available in every Inkscape window.

Or you could just hold the shape with the mouse, and while you're moving it, hit the space bar on your keyboard to drop a copy.

I don't think the spacebar stamp feature works across files though.  I haven't tried it, but I'm pretty sure it only works in the same file where the object is selected.

You can always copy something out of one file and paste it into another file.

Hhmm, I guess I'm assuming "new workspace" means another file.  But maybe not.  Well, I'll post anyway, just in case.

If you're looking for a stamping feature, besides the one Moini mentioned, the Spray tool sort of works like a stamp, if you configure it the right way on the control bar.
