please can someone help out there?  im new in this and afrikaans speaking. i hope i can express myself clearly in english.
i tried to create a plasma cut path and g code with inkscape and followed 2 tutorials closely. but when i view the cut path (blue line) created by inkscape, i see the path seems to be fine (inside paths and outside paths where needed.)
BUT the lead in, and lead out paths appears on the wrong side of the steel.  (the lead ins and lead outs is on the artwork, and not on the offcut side)
BUT the blue line (path) itself is correct. its just only the lead ins and lead outs that seemd to "flipped over" to the wrong side.
what could i do wrong?... i also tried a few times. can the image be a problem? ( mabe an image with a clear background)

thank you in advance,
johankaoko

Hi.

As far as I know none of us here have experience with cutters so we can guess only.

Lead in/lead out at wrong parts of the steel

-first idea would be eliminating all the unnecessary transformations.
That is, by ungrouping every group, converting objects to paths
-repeating the process until nothing but paths remain-,
creating a new layer, selecting all objects, cutting them (Ctrl+X)
and pasting them back to the new layer (Ctrl+Alt+V).

Then selecting the path with the node tool, selecting all nodes, and nudging them by pressing the arrow keys left and right one after another.
This way all the transformations should be gone.

Other idea is to be sure about path directions.
You can set up "show path direction on outlines" in the preferences under the node tool (Shift+Ctrl+P).

If nothing works you could share the file with some straight descriptions which part of it should be corrected.
But the problem may not rely only on inkscape's end, the cutter's driver could also have some issues.

Can you explain what the lead in and lead out is?  And what is the steel?  Also, exacty which Gcodetools extension did you use?

Would you be able to get a screenshot of the plasma cutter's software or window?  I'm assuming it has some kind of canvas or display on the computer.  But maybe not.  But if there is one, and it can show the lead in/out/steel issue, that might help us as well.

Can you give us a link to the tutorials?  Maybe I'll add them to my list.   :D

Yes, as Lazur suggested, making the file as simple, or as basic as possible, might help.  If there are any filters or gradients or etc., it might help if you remove those.  You could put them in a hidden layer, if you need to keep them.  Then send only the raw path(s) to Gcode.

If you look on the Help tab of the extension dialog, you can find the address of the forum of the creator of most of those Gcode tools.  Or Extensions menu > Gcodetools > About.  So if we can't figure it out, you could post over there.
