Has anybody else had any problems installing Inkscape on OSX Sierra?

I followed the instructions at https://inkscape.org/en/download/mac-os/ (installing XQuartz first, etc), but the Inkscape application still won't open.

Is this a known bug with Sierra?

Hi.

Maybe it just takes minutes to start up? First starting can take more time for caching fonts.

Welcome to the forum!

I haven't heard of any problems, although I'm not a Mac user.  I did a quick internet search and didn't turn up anything.

Let us know if you're still having problems, and any other clues or symptoms you might find.

I thought of that, so I left it overnight. It never started.

I thought it might be the particular computer I was using, so I tried it on another Mac running Sierra. Didn't start on that computer either.

We just don't have many Mac users here, currently.  There are a couple of issues covered in this section of the FAQ:  https://inkscape.org/en/learn/faq/#mac-os-x-specific-issues  Maybe one of those is your culprit?

If those don't solve the problem, I'd suggest trying the IRC channel - the developer channel, because if there is some new issue, they will be able to help.  irc://irc.freenode.org/#inkscape-devel  The channel for Inkscape users is probably more active, and you might be able to get some help there as well -- irc://irc.freenode.org/#inkscape  (Many developers participate there too.)

If you don't have any luck there, go for the development mailing list.  https://inkscape.org/en/community/mailing-lists/#inkscape-devel  If you don't want to subscribe to the list, I could post for you (as a one time thing).  It would be better for you to post directly, because relaying info back and forth can get confusing.  But I don't mind posting for someone else, as a one time thing, if that's your best choice.
