Hi guys, im new to inkscape and I need some help with corners, because the way I am doing it now is too time consuming and I need to do a lot of them.

Ill try and explain with the attachment what I do  :-$ (i want number 1 to end up like number 5)

number 1: starting point

number 2: I select the node at the point

number 3: I select "Make selected node smooth"

number 4: this is what I end up after 1/2/3. (as you can see no nice lines)

number 5: to get thisIi draw new line from different nodes and then delete the wrong lines as show at number 4

this is probably the wrong way to do this, and I really need to find a faster way, because I have to do like 100 of them.

can someone please help me to do this faster?

thank you

Welcome to the forum!

Are you looking to make like hatchmark type of thing?  Like if you were drawing with a real pencil, and you went back and forth, to make something like shading?  If that's the case, we have a great feature for that.  (LPE - Live Path Effect - there are many, but there's one called Hatches for this particular effect).

If that's not it, then the next fastest way I can think, would be to draw all the objects first.  Then you can select all the nodes which you need to change, and change them all at once.  You would still have to adjust the node handles, one at a time, though.

Oh, or here's another idea.  Not sure if it would work, since I don't know how you have draw the path to begin with.  But if you could draw the path with fewer nodes, you might be able to change the node type, and not have to adjust the handles.  I'm not sure though.

Could you give us some more info about how the paths are created to begin with?

Another option might be to draw the smooth node with the Pen tool, and adjust the handle "on the fly".  With the Pen tool, a single click creates a corner node, and a "click-drag" creates a smooth node, and adjusts the curve all at the same time.  For me, it's tricky to manipulate, and I've never gained good skill with it.  But others are really good at it!

Additionally, you've got way too many nodes in your drawing - I need 5 to produce the same result. One at each direction change of the curve.

Yeah, I noticed (and mentioned) the number of nodes too.  Curious how the paths are being created.  We'll see  :)

Thank you for your input, the problem is i did not draw this so i can't tell how the paths where created.

But i went and deleted a lot of nodes (path / simplify)  and  used the handle to get it back in shape. works and is faster
