I like to work in inches.  Is there a way I can change the rulers at the top and left side of the workspace to inches?  Also is there a way to make the grid a little darker?

Many thanks,

You can change the document unit (which is the unit used for the rulers) at File -> Document Properties, first tab, top right corner.

The grid color can be set in the 'Grid' tab in that same dialog.

If you're planning to use Inkscape a lot, we can tell you how to set it for inches, for every new document.  Otherwise, you have to change it for every new document.

Also, you should be aware that the rulers are simply there as a guide, and should not be used to create precise drawings.  There are some other features which should be used if you need precision.
