When I use an Inkscape SVG of text in Fusion 360 it outlines both the stroke and the fill areas. How can I increase the stroke to fortify a font but then change it so that I only have the outline of the letters?

Do you use 'stroke to path', before you transfer the text into the other software? If so, try Path > Object to path instead.

Else, use a dynamic offset on the text, and only keep the offset (delete text or move it to the side). Do Path > Object to Path on the offset, to turn it into a proper path.

Thank you Moini!

This is what I found worked so that the too thin parts of a cursive font could be increased for use in 3D printing. I wish there were more control using the dynamic offset.  :ty1:

Select all text

Group

Combine

Remove Fill

Reduce Stroke

Then:

Dynamic Offset

Increase Stroke style to increase fine lines

What type of control beyond the size (settable via node tool on its little handle) do you need for the dynamic offset?

Since I am using this for more than a background for my text, i.e. 3D printing, I would like to be able to control the inflated text more accurately. It was also strange that although there was no sign of it in Inkscape when I imported the SVG into Fusion 360 there were a few flaws. Any idea why?

What is 'more accurately'? Do you want to control it numerically? That's possible.

No idea as to the flaws without further concrete details and files, no.
